Acceptance of these terms

By using Drop The Pin (the “Service”) at dropthepin.xyz, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service.

What the Service is

Drop The Pin is a daily trivia game played on a map. We may add, change, or remove features at any time. The Service is provided for entertainment.

Your use of the Service

You agree not to:

Use the Service in any way that violates applicable law.
Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or game the leaderboard or scoring system (including by scripting, scraping the answers, or submitting falsified runs).
Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code or unreleased content of the Service.
Use the Service to harass, abuse, or harm others, including through display names that are offensive, impersonating, or infringing.
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, related systems, or other users’ data.

We may remove display names, scores, or restrict access at our discretion to enforce these terms.

Accounts and identity

By default the Service identifies you with an anonymous device identifier stored in your browser; clearing browser storage resets your identifier and progress. You may optionally sign in with an email address to link your runs across devices — in which case you’re responsible for keeping access to that email secure. You can sign out at any time from the profile page; signing out doesn’t delete your account data. Contact us if you want your account deleted.

Intellectual property

The Service, including all trivia content, design, code, branding, and assets (other than third-party map tiles and any user-supplied display names), is owned by Drop The Pin and protected by copyright and other laws. You may not copy, distribute, or create derivative works without our permission.

Map data and tiles are provided by OpenStreetMap contributors and Carto, and are used under their respective licenses.

Display names and user content

By setting a display name, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to display it on public leaderboards and within the Service. Don’t use names that are offensive, impersonating, infringing, or otherwise unlawful.

Advertising

The Service displays advertisements served by third parties including Google AdSense. We do not endorse advertised products or services and are not responsible for advertisers’ content or conduct.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ACCURATE, OR ERROR-FREE.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DROP THE PIN WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR DATA, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, for any reason. You may stop using the Service at any time.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised terms. We will update the effective date at the top of this page when we change them.
